48hour Film Competition
This weekend I made a film in 48hours, for the 2009 Smoke and Mirrors 48hour film competition.
With a great team of people arranged beforehand including Master DOP Igor Drozdov, producer Jo Rae-Chodan and co-director Nathanial Hill... I went in with total confidence that we were going to make something meaningful... and came out with an obscure arthouse film exploring that moment of peace in the midst of a war of words.
Some outstanding improvised performances from Actors Sian Breckin, Ben Wigzell and Dan Snelgrove under adverse time-pressure and onset re-writes combined to be yet another glorious definition of the phrase "it'll be alright on the night".
This is possibly the most stressful thing I've done in a while. It made me realise that I do have a method to my direction, and it is very much one which is routed in the script, the pre-production/ visualisation process and meticulous story boarding for dramatic framing so that on the day I can concentrate souly on the performances of the actors.
The day was great fun tho and my thanks go to all involved, especially LexHag for loaning his valuable skils and P2 Camera.
